✅ OpenAI introduces ChatGPT Search

ChatGPT’s Search Engine is Live – Here’s What You Need to Know

In partnership with

Proxy, the AI Agent for Everyday Life

Imagine if you had a digital clone to do your tasks for you. Well, meet Proxy…

Last week, Convergence, the London based AI start-up revealed Proxy to the world, the first general AI Agent.

Users are asking things like “Book my trip to Paris and find a restaurant suitable for an interview” or “Order a grocery delivery for me with a custom weekly meal plan”.

You can train it how you choose, so all Proxy’s are different, and personalised to how you teach it. The more you teach it, the more it learns about your personal work flows and begins to automate them.

OpenAI introduces ChatGPT Search

What is ChatGPT Search?

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Search, an upgrade that integrates web-sourced, real-time information directly within ChatGPT. This feature brings live data from the internet into your conversation, enhanced with cited sources from verified outlets like the AP and Reuters.

Key features:

  • Real-time information: Whether it’s the latest sports scores, stock updates, or breaking news, ChatGPT Search delivers up-to-date results by tapping into the web in seconds.

  • Interactive follow-ups: Start with a broad search and refine it through follow-up questions—ideal for digging deeper into topics or tailoring results to specific needs.

  • Integrated sources: Unlike traditional searches, ChatGPT Search brings trusted sources into view, with clickable citations and an intuitive sidebar for further reading.

Currently available for ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers, this tool will roll out to free, enterprise, and educational users in the coming weeks.

How does ChatGPT Search compare?

ChatGPT Search stands out for its ad-free experience, a stark contrast to the ad-heavy layouts typical in Google search results. By removing sponsored links, users can focus on high-quality, relevant information without distraction. This integration puts ChatGPT on a level playing field with competitors like Microsoft’s Bing-based Copilot, which already has real-time search capabilities.

Notably, ChatGPT Search isn’t a standalone product—it’s seamlessly integrated into the existing ChatGPT platform. Users can either let ChatGPT decide when to pull in web results or trigger a search manually using the new search icon, perfect for moments when fresh, factual information is essential.

Addressing Publisher Concerns

As with any web-sourced AI, ChatGPT Search raises questions among publishers about how AI might impact direct web traffic. OpenAI has taken steps to work closely with media partners, ensuring content is responsibly sourced and accurately cited. Major media houses, including News Corp and Condé Nast, now partner with OpenAI, with options for publishers to manage how their content appears in ChatGPT results.

However, some publishers remain cautious. In response, OpenAI states that ChatGPT’s web crawler won’t bypass paywalls, and any publisher may opt out if desired.

Why this matters for you?

ChatGPT Search marks a pivotal evolution in the AI landscape. This release bridges the gap between conversational AI and the web, allowing users to access real-time, citation-backed information in an ad-free, interactive environment. Future updates will expand to Advanced Voice Mode and possibly open up web search access to logged-out users.

In a world dominated by search engines, ChatGPT’s integrated search feature promises a fresh, user-focused alternative. It’s AI-powered search, reimagined for accuracy, clarity, and ease of use.

Happy searching! 💚
